Event Details
Set in Chicago during the Depression, this farce is the story of five upstanding church ladies who raise funds to send young Black women to college by holding bake sales. Their latest beneficiary, Tracyada, has more ambitious ideas. She wants them to rob a bank, but they are reluctant until they are turned down at the bank for a loan. The ladies then decide to join in Tracyada's scheme after the white bank manager thinks that colored girls do not need an education. They manage to pull off the robbery; and, escape, but not without consequences! Come see what happens to the ladies! This production is supported in part by The Black Seed, a national project funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, in partnership with The Billie Holiday Theatre, New York, New York. Professional Stage Reading directed by AKIN BABATUNDE. Produced by CURTIS KING. The Womens Museum is located at 3800 Parry Ave. in Fair Park - Dallas, Texas.
