Event Details
Celebration of America is honoring the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. Through three compelling works and the vitality of live music, we reflect on the nations cultural spirit, artistic legacy, and complex identity. George Balanchines Stars and Stripes brings the program to a bold and exuberant peak. Set to the enthusiastic marches of John Philip Sousa, orchestrated by Hershy Kay, this iconic ballet is a dazzling display of precision, patriotism, and pageantry an homage to American optimism and grandeur. The program will also include Zalman Raffaels In the Gray, set to music by Philip Glass. We will also be presenting Amy Hall Garners American in Paris an effervescent journey through a day in Paris as seen through American eyes. Set to Gershwins lively score, it captures the radiance, romance, and spontaneity of discovering a city anew, blending classical technique with jazz-inflected rhythms and Broadway charm.
