DeffJam is an evening of live music and arts celebrating the life of Ryan Deffet. Join us at Thalia Hall on Saturday, January 3rd - all ages welcome, pay what you can. Proceeds will be donated to Experimental Sound Studio. Radiating creativity, kindness, and joy - Ryan invested time in the arts, cherished moments with loved ones, and befriended communities all over. Ryan delved into songwriting, guitar, bass, harmonica, drums, mixing, mastering, and DJing. He led bands Space Gators and Faux Furrs, and cheered on friends in the scene whether in the crowd or accompanying them onstage.With roots in Dayton, OH, branching off to Chicago, and a DIY attitude - Ryan Deffet kicked off DeffJam in 2016. This years rendition of DeffJam carries this energy forward as friends take the stage and come together from all over - celebrating his life and everlasting impact.Proceeds will go towards Experimental Sound Studio - a Chicago-based nonprofit organization dedicated to artistic evolution and the creative exploration of sound. ESS is working with the Deffet family to provide scholarships to musicians and audio engineers in Ryans name.
