Event Details
Premiering in 1944, this classic icon of the American Theater catapulted Tennessee Williams to fame and one of America's most highly regarded playwrights. Now living in a dingy St. Louis apartment, Amanda Wingfield, who longs for her past Southern belle gentility, clings to the memories of her youth, as she projects her own unhappiness of her failed marriage and fallen social status onto her children-Her son Tom, whose ambition to be a writer clashes with his guilt to support her and his painfully shy and physically frail sister Laura, who finds solace in her collection of glass figures. All three have created their separate illusions to make life bearable. When we allow our mind to magnify life's barriers, do we create our own cage?
