Matte Blvck, a trio consisting of Alex Gonzales, Daniel Corrales, and Bidi Cobra, is known for its unique fusion of Darkwave and Industrial music. Their second album, Vows, includes the standout single BTTR, a collaboration with Clan of Xymox, a pioneering band in the Darkwave and Post Punk genres. The song blends dark euphoria, nostalgia, and immersive soundscapes, featuring a duet between Ronny Moorings of Clan of Xymox and Alex Gonzales. BTTR modernizes the Darkwave sound while paying homage to its roots, with lyrics inspired by Dependent Personality Disorder, exploring themes of dependency and unfulfilled happiness.Clan of Xymox, led by Ronny Moorings, has been influential in the post-punk and darkwave scenes, achieving success with tracks like A Day and Medusa. The song BTTR originated in 2019 and was later reworked and recorded with live instruments at Secret Hand Studios in Los Angeles. The production was handled by Matt McJunkins and mixing by Aaron Short, bringing the bands live energy into the track.Vows features a diverse range of dark electronic genres, including industrial, darkwave, breakbeats, and synthwave.
