Event Details
Apollo is a dance-theater work that explores intergenerational queer dynamics, memory, HIV/AIDS, and legacy. Blending dance, theater, and queer history, the piece reimagines Greek mythology's Apollo and Balanchine's 1928 ballet through lived queer experience. Instead of Muses, Apollo encounters three queer elders—past iterations of himself—who challenge, guide, and reflect him. Together, they navigate mentorship, community, and the body as an archive of memory and survival. By confronting ageism and honoring queer legacies, Apollo celebrates connection across generations and redefines who gets to be seen and celebrated on stage. Apollo will host a free dance workshop on Sunday, November 23 at 10:00 am, for more information, please email luisa@pioneerwinter.com. In the 2025/2026 season, the Broward Center's AMPLIFYARTS initiative is made possible by Wayne and Lucretia Weiner, Baptist Health and TD Charitable Foundation.
